Mr Curtis of Mr Curtis Designs is an artist and musician working in Edinburgh. He is a full-time tattoo artist, a part-time oil painting still life artist, a part time graphic designers, a part-time jewellery designer and a part-time double bass player! Phew! Mr Curtis has learned how to bend the fabric of time in order to in so many artistic endeavours.

We were lucky enough to receive some of his amazing tattoo-inspired jewellery. Mr Curtis Designs produce an array of accessories, jewellery and mugs, each themed on popular tattoo designs such as the English rose, love hearts and animals.

One of the sets that we received was the Sewing Machine Necklace and Cotton Reel Earring Set. Each jewellery item is made from printed acrylic, and this necklace has an amazingly designed old-fashioned sewing machine on it. The acrylic is cut to the shape of the picture too and the earrings are cute little matching cotton spools. I love the fact that each piece has such a cool vintage look to it and the colours are dark but able to go with most colours at the same time.

The other piece that we received was the Vintage Rose Teacup Necklace. If you love tea, then this one is for you! It is a tattoo art style necklace printed acrylic pendant on a metal chain, and is again cut to the shape of the beautiful teacup. The pendant measures 5cm by 4cm and the chain is 46cm. The pendant is waterproof, scratchproof and the design won’t peel off. I love the colours on this teapot necklace as they are light and bright and will be suitable each season.

You can check out more about Mr Curtis Designs at and browse his full accessory range at his Etsy store

The Sewing Machine Necklace and Cotton Reel Earring set is £12.78 and the Vintage Rose Teacup Necklace is £8.88.

Sew Lomax Sweet On You Cosmetics Bag

Recently we received a beautiful Sew Lomax cosmetics bag. Sew Lomax is a brand started by Emma Lomax, she has created a whole range of ethical, hand embroidered and crafted cosmetic bags, pouches and more. It is so much lovelier to purchase a product that has been made by hand, as it feels really personal and unique.

We received the Sweet On You pouch, which has been inspired by the great British seaside and has adorable embroidered lollipops on the front. It is made from cotton and has a hot pink lining and is beautifully finished with the Sew Lomax signature gold bobbin zip detail and a gold love heart charm. You could also double it up as a clutch.

The Sweet On You pouch costs £25 and there are many other types of bags available in lots of different designs. Sew Lomax also run a bespoke service where you can get your very own design made. I would have said that £25 is quite a price to pay for a cosmetics bag but once you see the quality and the work that has gone into the product, the price is totally justified. I think that the Sew Lomax pouches and accessories would make a great gift for any make up lover.

You can purchase the Sweet On You pouch from for £25

OMG Shoes

on May 6, 2014

You know that feeling when you walk into any clothing or accessory store and do the little ‘oh em gee them SHOES!’ squeal inside your head? That’s exactly how I felt when we found the OMG shoes store on Etsy.

There’s something about shoes that instantly get girls excited. I don’t know exactly what it is about them, but it’s always the shoes that you curse the day they were designed at 2am when you’re standing bare footed in the street with them in your hand. I KNOW it’s not just me that does that. Classy.

Humongous heels, comfy wedges, pretty sandals, the possibilities are endless, but to get shoes which are handmade and unique often come at a very expensive price. OMG Shoes produce a selection of high heels which are customised by owner Katy’s very own hands. There are quirky alphabet styles, beautiful lace designs and on trend stripes – and they’re absolutely beautiful!

When Katy, who designs and makes the most unique and fun heels you ever did see, offered to send us some to review, the ‘oh em gee, shoes!’ squeal was at its best- which is apt, given the name of the store!

I opted for a pair that would go with everything: the Golden Lace Appliqué Crackle Varnish design.

I particularly loved the soles of these shoes which look so pretty as you walk. The appliqué lace is well crafted to the shoe and adds extra detail to a plain pair of black courts. I almost always wear gold accessories so these will add a lovely touch to a LBD.

Kathryn went for the Black And White Stripe Ribbon Design:

These have a black and white striped three dimensional bow effect on the front which can be paired with any coloured dress to match or contrast.

“The bow at the front of the shoes was a beautiful black and white striped three dimensional bow, and on the soles of the shoes were the most striking and stunning black and white striped design. I must admit this is one of my favourite things about the shoes as I am in love with black and white stripes as I think they look really effective and can be worn with a bright colour for a change – I am currently coveting the Kate Spade black and white stripe watch which would match these perfectly!”

Upon arrival, the shoes were presented in a classic cardboard box with OMG printed down the centre over and over again. Inside the box, the shoes were nestled amongst lots of black shredded tissue paper which kept them safe in the post (goodness knows what happens in them Royal Mail sorting offices- parcels come looking as though they’ve been chewed by a werewolf sometimes!)

Each pair also came with a special personalised message just for us, which was a lovely touch!

The heels are quite high, so may need a but of practice indoors before you venture out but are surprisingly comfortable at the same time!

All the shoes are customised black courts, yet are all hand painted and decorated by Katy. She personally sources all decorations, which are then sewn, stitched and attached by hand. The sole of each shoe is carefully prepared for painting and then colour is applied. Finally an acrylic topcoat is applied to protect the decorative sole. The topcoat she uses also adds traction when walking; although they look very glossy they actually grip the floor well ensuring you don’t fall over whilst strutting your stuff!

I have to say, this girl is incredibly talented! I wouldn’t know where to start creating these beautiful designs!

The sizings are pretty spot on, I’m usually between a 7 and an 8, and often get a 7 in courts as I find they slip off the back of my feet. I ordered a size 7 in these and they didn’t slip off once, making them even comfier and gave me added confidence that I could walk without falling head first onto the pavement.

There are so many different designs to choose from, and Katy makes each one absolutely beautifully. There really is something for everyone!

Kindly, Katy has given us a code to share with you all which gives you a bit of money off, therefore you can buy two pairs!

Just enter OMG20%OFF at the checkout.

The website has recently gone live too, so you can visit and see all the designs better on!

Also, give the Facebook page a like:

The shoes are between £65 and £80 to buy – no more expensive than a pair from Topshop which EVERYONE else has! OMG SHOES are custom made to order, hand painted and lovingly decorated, therefore these heels showcase truly original design that guarantee you will stand out from the crowd!

Hope you love them as much as we do!

Love, Emily x

Etsy – Flora’s Boutique

Whilst browsing Etsy (my new obsession), I came across Flora’s Boutique. This online store was full of stunning, feminine pieces of jewellery made from a mixture of gemstones and different coloured precious metals. Clare Jones-Anthony is the owner of Flora’s Boutique…

As a seller, Clare is so attentive to detail when in conversation with you, and really listened to what I wanted, asking the right questions in order to ensure you choose the right piece. I was extremely lucky and Clare let me choose a gemstone and the colours and accompaniments but at the same time Clare kept the design her own. I mentioned that with it being my birthday soon, my birthstone aquamarine would be a really lovely idea as it would be not just a stunning piece of jewellery, but a piece of art work that has meaning behind it. I also mentioned that I love aurora borealis, which to me is beautiful as you can catch all the colours of the rainbow within it and so it goes with everything.

The jewellery arrived in two separate boxes, both a gorgeous shade of pink, with a linen finish and an excellent quality, and before I even opened the boxes, I knew whatever was to be inside would also be of a high quality. I decided to open the smaller box first, and inside was a charming pair of delicate drop earrings. They begin with silver hooks, followed by pretty aurora borealis crystals, a tiny delicious cream pearl, a larger aquamarine coloured faceted crystal, another delectable pearl and lastly a nugget of aquamarine. The earrings feel light yet secure and strong and the craftmanship is truly amazing. I love the fact these earrings include pearls, my Mum died when I was 17 years old and she loved pearls, she always had a string of them around her neck, always graceful and timeless and so I will have a tiny piece of my Mum with me whilst wearing these graceful earrings.

I then got to open the larger box, and inside I actually squealed (Dad looked over in alarm), as inside was a beautiful bracelet, made with the same design as the earrings. Clare enclosed a letter with my package, and included how the jewellery was made. The bracelet is made using Tibetan silver (for the closure), Swarovski crystal elements in aqua and aurora borealis with cream Ceylon glass beads (which to me looked like the little pearls). Clare mentioned that these were both bespoke pieces of jewellery with me as the customer, in mind. This really made me feel special and I could not think of a better gift for someone, as these pieces are truly made with love. The bracelet has 7 good-sized nuggets of aquamarine in it (cannily, the number 7 is my favourite number), as well as the stunning Swarovski crystals and Ceylon glass beads. The closure is one I have never seen before, and is a pretty love heart in a T-Bar style fastening, with an arrow going through it (again, perfect for Valentine’s Day!). The wire has been secured very professionally and I am so proud that I get to wear this item of jewellery.

With such quality, timeless pieces of jewellery, Flora’s Boutique is perfect for ladies and girls of any age, and you really will feel special wearing them.
