Casetify iPhone 5s Case

Casetify has recently undergone a name change – it used to be Casetagram, which was an app where you could make an iphone cover using a picture from your Instagram account. Now you can use Facebook or Instagram photographs to create your very own picture case.

 wrapped

You can use collage templates or simply have just the one photograph and you can choose different bases, including a new wooden one which I love the look of! You simply click on the Make tab, choose your phone, mine is the iPhone 5s. You can then choose the base case you prefer, I went for the Bezel Bold in Tiffany Blue – I shall tell you the reasoning for this shortly. You then choose your template, I went for a single photograph, but there are some fab collage templates including love hearts and bubbles. After this step you then upload your pictures and it adjusts it all for you – then all you have to do is pay and wait for you case to arrive. Simple!

My boyfriend James and I don’t really have that many pictures together, I hate pictures at the moment because of my braces and James just generally doesn’t like having his picture taken. When on holiday in Egypt we got a few photographs of us together and so I chose one of these to add to my case. As it was a holiday picture, that was the reason why I decided to go for the Tiffany Blue case, as it is quite tropical and looks like a gorgeous ocean blue.

The case arrives from America and didn’t take long at all, as well as shipping being free, the total for the case was $39.95 which today works out at £23.51 which I don’t think is a bad price at all to have something so personalised, and the quality and sturdiness of the case is really impressive too.

Mr Curtis Designs Necklace & Earrings

Mr Curtis of Mr Curtis Designs is an artist and musician working in Edinburgh. He is a full-time tattoo artist, a part-time oil painting still life artist, a part time graphic designers, a part-time jewellery designer and a part-time double bass player! Phew! Mr Curtis has learned how to bend the fabric of time in order to in so many artistic endeavours.

We were lucky enough to receive some of his amazing tattoo-inspired jewellery. Mr Curtis Designs produce an array of accessories, jewellery and mugs, each themed on popular tattoo designs such as the English rose, love hearts and animals.

Image

One of the sets that we received was the Sewing Machine Necklace and Cotton Reel Earring Set. Each jewellery item is made from printed acrylic, and this necklace has an amazingly designed old-fashioned sewing machine on it. The acrylic is cut to the shape of the picture too and the earrings are cute little matching cotton spools. I love the fact that each piece has such a cool vintage look to it and the colours are dark but able to go with most colours at the same time.

 Image

The other piece that we received was the Vintage Rose Teacup Necklace. If you love tea, then this one is for you! It is a tattoo art style necklace printed acrylic pendant on a metal chain, and is again cut to the shape of the beautiful teacup. The pendant measures 5cm by 4cm and the chain is 46cm. The pendant is waterproof, scratchproof and the design won’t peel off. I love the colours on this teapot necklace as they are light and bright and will be suitable each season.

North London based, they bespoke design and print their ranges locally in order to keep the brand as true British as possible. With over ten years in the industry across many product areas and aspects, they have the experience and expertise to keep delivering individuality and trend inspired ranges.

When contacted by GracieFace we were asked whether we would like to pick something from their online store or whether we would like something more personalised. As we love love love personalised items, we asked if we could have a t-shirt made with The Kats Paws on it.

 Image

The t-shirt arrived wrapped carefully in tissue paper with the GracieFace logo applied to the front of the parcel. I straightaway noticed the quality of the t-shirt, the cotton was thick and soft and I loved the fact that the short sleeves on the t-shirt were folded over making it a little bit edgier than your average t-shirt. On the back of the t-shirt is the GracieFace logo letting people know you have something unique on.

Etsy – Flora’s Boutique

Whilst browsing Etsy (my new obsession), I came across Flora’s Boutique. This online store was full of stunning, feminine pieces of jewellery made from a mixture of gemstones and different coloured precious metals. Clare Jones-Anthony is the owner of Flora’s Boutique…

Image

As a seller, Clare is so attentive to detail when in conversation with you, and really listened to what I wanted, asking the right questions in order to ensure you choose the right piece. I was extremely lucky and Clare let me choose a gemstone and the colours and accompaniments but at the same time Clare kept the design her own. I mentioned that with it being my birthday soon, my birthstone aquamarine would be a really lovely idea as it would be not just a stunning piece of jewellery, but a piece of art work that has meaning behind it. I also mentioned that I love aurora borealis, which to me is beautiful as you can catch all the colours of the rainbow within it and so it goes with everything.

The jewellery arrived in two separate boxes, both a gorgeous shade of pink, with a linen finish and an excellent quality, and before I even opened the boxes, I knew whatever was to be inside would also be of a high quality. I decided to open the smaller box first, and inside was a charming pair of delicate drop earrings. They begin with silver hooks, followed by pretty aurora borealis crystals, a tiny delicious cream pearl, a larger aquamarine coloured faceted crystal, another delectable pearl and lastly a nugget of aquamarine. The earrings feel light yet secure and strong and the craftmanship is truly amazing. I love the fact these earrings include pearls, my Mum died when I was 17 years old and she loved pearls, she always had a string of them around her neck, always graceful and timeless and so I will have a tiny piece of my Mum with me whilst wearing these graceful earrings.

Image

I then got to open the larger box, and inside I actually squealed (Dad looked over in alarm), as inside was a beautiful bracelet, made with the same design as the earrings. Clare enclosed a letter with my package, and included how the jewellery was made. The bracelet is made using Tibetan silver (for the closure), Swarovski crystal elements in aqua and aurora borealis with cream Ceylon glass beads (which to me looked like the little pearls). Clare mentioned that these were both bespoke pieces of jewellery with me as the customer, in mind. This really made me feel special and I could not think of a better gift for someone, as these pieces are truly made with love. The bracelet has 7 good-sized nuggets of aquamarine in it (cannily, the number 7 is my favourite number), as well as the stunning Swarovski crystals and Ceylon glass beads. The closure is one I have never seen before, and is a pretty love heart in a T-Bar style fastening, with an arrow going through it (again, perfect for Valentine’s Day!). The wire has been secured very professionally and I am so proud that I get to wear this item of jewellery.

Make Up Brush Makeover

Sunday is one of those days where you can chill out, get over Saturday night antics, catch up with friends or do a few tasks that you don’t get around to throughout your busy week.

Today, I have done all of the above! Last night was one of my best friend Stacey’s birthday nights out, so me and the girls went for a meal and a few quiet drinks…ahem… Therefore, this morning was a write off.

However this afternoon, myself and Kathryn went to The Village hotel in Hull, where we had a 5 COURSE Sunday Roast, which was lovely, and a gossip before planning some new reviews for you all. The list is extremely long, so bare with us, but we have some amazing products in the pipeline, so keep your eyes peeled!

As some of you know, I love watching bloggers on YouTube such as Tanya Burr, Zoella and Fleur De Force, and an exciting thing for all YouTubers and bloggers happened this week when Tanya Burr launched her lips and nails range on feelunique.com! As soon as they were released, I got online and bought a lip gloss and nail varnish so that review will be online as soon as possible! As a fellow blogger, she knows what makes a great product so I’m sure they’re going to be brilliant and I can’t wait to tell you all about the range!

Another exciting development for The Kats Paws is we now have a Facebook page! Visit http://www.facebook.com/thekatspaws to ‘like’ us and keep up to date with all our latest posts!

So, back onto the subject of Sunday tasks…

As I was applying my make up this morning, I noticed just how rank some of my brushes had become. They definitely needed a good clean!

20140202-212642.jpg

Not everyone has a make up brush cleaner, and a lot on the market are pretty expensive! I once read on Zoella’s blog about how she used Dove Hand Wash to clean her brushes so decided to test out a process that can be used with products found in your bathroom to see if it works as well as a cleaner.

You can also use a Baby Shampoo or gentle clarifying shampoo- nothing too heavy to weigh down the bristles though!

It’s also worth mentioning to clean your brushes AFTER applying your make up for the day, as they need a good few hours to naturally dry.

You’re supposed to wash your brushes every single week, to avoid wiping old make up and bacteria around your face, which can cause spots and claggy make up – never a good look.

Step One:

Choose your cleaning product! I decided to give Imperial Leather Japanese Spa Nourishing Hand Wash a go, as it is moisturising and smells gorgeous!

20140202-220540.jpg

Step Two:

Rinse the brush under warm water to get the excess make up off. If you’re anything like me, the water will run a questionable colour!

20140202-220810.jpg

Step Three:

Pump a small amount of the cleaning product onto the palm of your hand. The amount also depends on the size of the brush; obviously you will need more for a large powder brush than a crease brush or eyebrow brush.

20140202-221041.jpg

Step Four:

Massage the bristles on your palm in small circular motions to deep clean the brush, and watch as the hand wash foams and turns a lovely orange/ brown/ pink colour!

20140202-221500.jpg

20140202-221603.jpg

Step Five:

Rinse the brush under lukewarm running water until clear, then lay them down on paper towels to dry!
Don’t stand them us, as the water will run down into the handles and leave them stagnant and unclean!

20140202-221743.jpg

Voila! Your brushes are practically brand new :)

ETSY – Dirty Rotten Rags

Recently I discovered Etsy. It’s been around for ages and for those that haven’t heard of it, it is a site where individuals who are amazingly creative and crafty are able to sell their homemade items. I downloaded the App from the itunes store and started having a browse….I was still browsing 3 hours later…there are SO many gorgeous things to buy, at decent prices, and for everybody and anybody from all over the world!

The first store I came across was Dirty Rotten Rags… Rayon is the owner and creator of this Etsy store which sells some AMAZING “mashed-up 80s/90s vintage”. There are jewellery items, clothing and more, all hand-customised, with the opportunity to add your own customisation and personalised stamp on the items. My particular favourites are the old-style acid-washed Adidas tops and the dripping Chanel jewellery.

We recently received these stunning earrings…

Image

These beaut earrings are made from a gold mirrored acrylic in the style of a dripping Chanel emblem. Emily and I recently went out for our friend Josh’s leaving dinner and I wanted to be dressy but it was wayyyy too cold for a dress and so i threw on some black skinny jeans and a grey top with Topshop heels and then to really add some fabulousness to my plain outfit I added these earrings.

Image

They are so unbelievably light I could barely feel them – long drooping earlobes are a big no no in my book – yet I had so many comments that evening on the sparkle of the earrings. I was able to wear a large cool earring without having the weight of large metal earrings all night.

Image

You can check Rayon’s store Dirty Rotten Rags out at http://www.etsy.com/shop/dirtyrottenrags as well as checking out her Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/dirtyrottenrags as well as some cool pics on Instagram…. ID @dirtyrottenrags

As a special treat, Rayon has generously given us a 10% discount to pass on to you all… simply visit her Etsy shop, add everything you love and enter the code thekatspaws14 before 30/4/2014

Here are a few sneak peeks from Dirty Rotten Rags….
