St Tropez Luxe Dry Oil

With Egypt looming, and my boyfriend still calling me Casper, I wanted to try out the St Tropez Luxe Dry Oil. The dry oil is in a glass bottle, which I always think screams quality and expense and the writing and lid are both in a rich gold, which really ties in with the look of the product, making you dream of warm, sunny places. As the bottle is transparent, you can see the oil through it, and as you give the bottle a shake, the oil mixes in with the deep gold shimmer.

 Image

The oil comes out by gently shaking the bottle and small droplets fall out, which means you don’t have the problem of too much product pouring out. The fragrance is 100% natural Neroli, Lemongrass and Grapefruit essential oils and smells far better than any other fake tan product I have used before. You can instantly see the shimmer, which looks really pretty, but don’t be scared, this does come off when you shower the next morning. The product sinks nicely into the skin as soon you rub the oil in and leaves a lovely bronzed shimmery finish.

I did find the mousse self tan much easier to put on, with better coverage, but this product provided a really natural looking tan, with only a slight smell to it, and didn’t dry my sensitive skin out in the slightest. Also, you only need a small amount as it spreads quite well and so one bottle should definitely last for quite a lot of applications, which is something you do not get with the mousse.

 Here are my results:

The Dream Box

The British Beauty Blogger and Latest In Beauty have recently teamed up to create The Dream Box, full of plenty of amazing products. The British Beauty Blogger has previously released two other Beauty Boxes and they sold out within hours, as did this and so I was extremely excited when I managed to purchase one.

 Image

Here is what is inside…(Some shades and fragrances do vary from box to box, and this is what I received in mine)

 Image

Bourjois Cream Blush

I received Shade 03 Rose Tender. This is a really pretty peach colour, and I do actually use one of the other shades of Bourjois Cream Blushes on a daily basis as they are really easy to apply and you can control the depth of colour. It gives cheeks a sunny warmth that livens the face straightaway in a cream to powder formula.

 Image

Bee Good Honey & Wild Water Mint Cleansing Water

During the summer months, cleansing water is a must have, and this particular version is really light and effective for removing grime and make-up whilst at the same time being very gentle on the skin. You can enjoy 20% off your first purchase at www.beegood.co.uk using the code BEAUTY14 at the checkout. (Expires 20th July)

 Image

La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water Spray

I had read a lot about the brand La Roche Posay on other beauty blogging sites but had not yet purchased any of the products and I will certainly be taking this to Egypt with me. It is perfect during warm weather, especially if you have had a bit too much sun! It is best kept in the fridge for quick, soothing spritzes powered by selenium that will calm and soften your skin. You can currently save a third on all La Roche-Posay at www.escentual.com until 30th June.

 Image

Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick Kisses

I received So Marilyn, which is a lovely deep seductive red. You simply tear open the sachet and use your finger or a lipstick brush to apply the formula. What makes this product so special is a light diffusing formula and a clever ingredient from the Lipstick Tree (and yes I am telling the truth here believe it or not!).

 Image

Elemis Treat Your Feet Foot Cream

Now I have actually purchased this product before and found it ever so handy at 20ml, to pop into my suitcase on holiday to keep my feet smelling and looking sweet. It is a deliciously cooling formula made with eucalyptus and lemon and is highly moisturising too. Receive 20% off full size Elemis products at www.timetospa.co.uk using the code DREAMB2 at the checkout. (Expires 20th July)

 Image

Essie Nail Polish

I received a beautiful ballet shoe shade in this well-known, reliable but fun nail polish. Essie’s brushes are exactly the right size to sweep over the nail in one go meaning that you get a smooth and glossy finish in just two coats. I have used Essie for years now and I must say it rarely chips and they do some amazing colours.

 Image

Kneipp Herbal Baths

The scent I received was May Chang and Lemon and it smells divine! A gorgeous, uplifting and happy fragrance, this Enjoy Life bubble bath is an absolute treat at bathtime. You can enjoy 2 for 1 on Kneipp body washes at www.graftonsbeauty.co.uk/kneipp until 10th June.

 Image

Janjira Hand Wash

Janjira is a brand I had not previously heard of until I received my Dream Box. It is a travel size hand wash and the fragrance I received was Thai Lime and Ginger which is really zesty and refreshing. Another item I shall be popping into my suitcase! Use code BBB20 and receive 20% off all products at www.janjira.co.uk until 30th June.

Makeup Revolution Awesome Eyeshadow and Eyebrow Palette

Makeup Revolution is a new beauty brand that doesn’t skimp on quality but saves you pounds in your pockets. There are so many pretty, shimmery and matte shades in this palette and it is great that they have included eyebrow powders in the palette, which are so on trend at the moment, meaning less separate products to cart around with you. Take 25% off your order at www.makeuprevolutionstore.com using code MUR25 at the checkout until 30th July.

 Image

Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge

This pocket-sized spritz will give you an olfactory taster of ginger in many guises. With bottom notes of candied ginger topped with mandarin and pomegranate, it is a little burst of summer in a bottle. Personally this wasn’t something I would wear, but I still loved the smell. BBB20 will get you 20% off the fragrance at www.escentual.com

 Image

L’Occitane Immortelle Divine Lotion

L’Occitane is one of the premium brands in the beauty and skincare business, and I think it is such a treat to use their products – I particularly love the lavender range. The Immortelle Divine Lotion is a softening lotion for the skin to be used after the cleansing stage and before moisturising. It will make your skin feel softer and make it look brighter.

 Image

Benefit It’s Potent Eye Cream

A little pot of It’s Potent Eye Cream is perfect for popping into your travel beauty bag, and it contains a peptide complex that wiggles its way into crinkles to restore elasticity and firmness as well as tackling dark circles. I have used this product before and it is definitely one of my favourite eye products as it feels nice and light upon application.

 Image

Ren Satin Perfection BB Cream

This BB cream is one of Ren’s top sellers as it is a silicone free formula with a non-oily format, which gives a satin finish alongside anti-ageing ingredients and SPF. It provides light coverage as well as providing you with smart skin care. Receive 20% off all products at www.renskincare.com before 16th June.

 Image

LOLA Kabuki Brush

Kabuki brushes have been big news in beauty over the past few years, their versatility means that you can use them with powders, bronzers and blushers, providing just the right amount of product onto the skin. The LOLA Kabuki Brush diffuses product really well but it is tight enough that you can get excellent blush and bronzer definition too.

 Image

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

The name of this mascara may make a few of you blush a little, but the results from the product are outstanding. I have used many Too Faced bronzers and blushers in the past and get thoroughly upset when they run out. I was very excited to try this mascara and was definitely not let down. It is the deepest carbon black with a collagen infused formula that provides you with the thickest, darkest lashes ever.

 Image

I have really enjoyed being able to try out new and old favourite beauty products from the Dream Box (£19.99 from www.latestinbeauty.com) and would like to thank British Beauty Blogger for coming up with such a fantastic box. I shall definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for the next one.

Nair Argan Oil Washable Roll-On Wax

With my holiday to Egypt vastly approaching, I recently tried out the Nair Argan Oil Washable Roll-On Wax on my legs, as I hate the stubbly look I get on my legs after shaving and there are now that many different wax products on the shelves that there is no need to visit a salon for waxing.

Image

Nair Argan Oil Roll-On combines a practical, washable, reusable roll-on applicator and an exclusive, ultra-effective formula that can be rinsed in water.

  • Suitable for dry and sensitive skin
  • Results last up to 4 weeks
  • Dermatologically tested
  • Quick – Heats in less than 1 minute
  • Easy – Roll on, wax off
  • Efficient – Removes very short hair (1-2mm)
  • Washable – Easy to clean

I found the kit really simple to use, the instruction booklet that is inside the box, is very concise and easy to follow. The process involves rolling on the wax, applying the included strips, and then ripping the strip off (not as scary as it sounds, I promise!).

 Image

The fragrance of the wax is gorgeous, it is like sweet honey, with a little orange running through it too. The wax contains Argan Oil, which I am sure the majority of you will know how amazing it is for skin and hair, and is wonderful for soothing dry skin. I did find that this particular wax didn’t leave my skin as red as other wax products have, which may be down to the Argan Oil properties. The results lasted about three weeks for me personally, but I am really happy with this, as it is much better than shaving.

The Nair Argan Oil Washable Roll-On Wax costs £9.99 and is available from stores such as Boots. You can also check out Nair’s complete product range at www.naircare.co.uk

Viridian Nutrition – Cherry Night

I am the world’s worst sleeper, I can lie there for hours and not sleep a wink. Eventually it gets to a point where it really affects me and I get really tired and miserable on a weekend, much to my boyfriend’s displeasure!

When Viridian Nutrition kindly sent me a bottle of Cherry Night to try I must say I was intrigued. It is known for helping with insomnia and is a blend of Glycine, Morello Cherry, Red Date Extract and Magnesium and is designed to be a natural sleep aid to help boost melatonin (the sleep hormone) production.

 Image

Cherry Night arrives in powder form, which you mix with water or juice and drink one hour before going to bed. As it says cherry on the bottle, I expected it to taste predominantly of cherries, but it didn’t really have much of a taste to it and so I added some Ribena Orange and Mandarin juice to add some flavour and make it easier to drink.

 Image

I blew out my Yankee Candles, got settled in bed and tried to relax, it did make me sleepier than usual and so I did fall asleep pretty quickly but I did wake up in the night a couple of times, but then this is not unusual for me. I am definitely going to keep trying this mixture on an evening before bed, as any sleep is better than no sleep.

Viridian Nutrition Cherry Night retails at £24.95 for a 150g bottle and is available from www.viridian-nutrition.com

Limited Edition Femfresh Feminine Freshness Wipes

Femfresh have gone all summery with their latest release of their limited edition Feminine Freshness Wipes. These travel size (think festivals, holidays and the likes) wipes come in a black or white pouch adorned with pretty peach and blue flowers.

The pouch is resealable and so they are so easy to carry around with you, without leakage or them drying out. The wipes are designed to soothe and refresh, gently cleansing and deodorising and so are perfect for all skin types.

 Image

At the grand old age of 30, discussing feminine hygiene really does not bother me in the slightest, I would rather educate others who are a little shyer on the subject than keep it under wraps. These pretty packaged wipes are perfect for keeping me refreshed when out and about and the size means they fit in practically any of my handbags. With them being pH balanced, hypoallergenic, gynaecologically and dermatologically tested, I can rest assured that I am being well looked after.

For more information, visit www.femfresh.co.uk

The new Femfresh Feminine Freshness Wipes are available at Boots, Superdrug, supermarkets and chemists nationwide, priced at £1.59 a packet.

Summer Ready Tootsies

It’s (hopefully) coming round to flip flop weather hurrah! I could literally wear flip flops everyday of my life but unfortunately living in this country, its more Uggs and Hunters than Havaianas, which can be cute and cosy but can play havoc on our feet. Hard skin, chipped nail polish, cuticle growth, none of this adds up to very pretty feet. Pedicures at salons do not come cheap – they often vary at around £30-60 and so I decided to pop together a few products and tools and have my very own at-home-pedicure session. Now don’t get me wrong, it isn’t the easiest thing to do, giving yourself a pedicure, but it can save you a fortune.

The Tools

I managed to pick up the tools for £1.99 from B&M Bargains for a set of cuticle clippers, nail clipper and metal file, which the plastic end was really good for pushing down cuticles.

Image

The sweet pink flip flop nail files I actually picked up from an amazing store called Bath & Body Works when I was over in Florida in March. It is best to get a washing up bowl (no fancy foot spa required), fill it with warm water and add your favourite scented shower gel or bubble bath, ensure that you put a towel underneath the bowl just in case of spillage. Leave your feet in there to soak for five minutes or so, and then work on each foot, using the cuticle pusher to soften the cuticles and then clip them off using the clippers, putting each foot back in the water when finished. I then filed my toenails, which is a pretty simple task, even if I did have my legs practically wrapped round the back of my head!

Image

Next up, for the hard skin on the edges of my heels I used a 4-in-1 pedicure tool, which I picked up at a pound shop. They have a scrubbing brush part, a pumice part, what I call a cheese grater side and then a file side. These are so good for removing hard feet and are so cheap that if you are super keen on hygiene, you can restock time after time without breaking the bank. I firstly used the cheese grater metal side and then smoothed the skin with the file side.

Scrub A Dub Dub

Now that the feet are lovely and freshly prepped, I recommend using The Body Shop Peppermint Soothing Foot Scrub (£7). It is made up of intensely exfoliating volcanic rock granules which help to slough away rough patches of hardened skin, to leave your toes feeling soft, smooth and smelling HEAVENLY. The peppermint scent is quite strong but it smells so invigorating and fresh, perfect for the feet. Massage the scrub in circular movements over wet feet and then wash off in the bowl, ensuring that you remove all of the scrub. You will notice that your feet feel much smoother straight away, and body scrubs, face scrubs, and foot scrubs are all brilliant to renew the skin and prepare for tanning.

 Image

Smooth Those Heels Baby!

Let me introduce to you my cracked heel saviour – Flexitol Heel Balm Platinum. This comes in a regular squirty tube, and as the cream is that thick, you do need a bit of muscle to squeeze the cream out. You do not need a lot of the balm as it is so luxuriously thick that it spreads really well. Simply massage this in to the areas of your feet that has dry, hardened skin. I used this on my boyfriend’s feet at the weekend and I wouldn’t go as far to say that I could have kissed them, but they certainly felt a lot smoother instantly. You can buy Flexitol Heel Balm Platinum from most pharmacies for around £6 for 50ml.

Heaven Scent…

The last skin product I love to use is Clarins Foot Beauty Treatment Cream. I often use this cream before bed, as well as during my home-made pedicures, as the smell is so divine, I cannot even describe it to you and it helps to relax me. The Foot Beauty Treatment Cream is designed to tackle multiple foot problems, including dry skin, foot perspiration, brittle toenails and foot swelling, and so all in all it is a perfect go-to product. It is infused with plant-derived ingredients like virgin cashew nut oil, shea butter, arnica and myrrh. I like to warm the cream up in my hands and apply all over my toenails, feet and ankles, slowly massaging it into the skin. The texture absorbs quickly and feels quite like a body butter, without being oily or greasy. You can purchase the Clarins Foot Beauty Treatment Cream from department stores or online at www.clarins.co.uk and it costs £23 for 125ml.

 Image

Now it’s time to get creative!

Before we go any further, take a cotton wool pad and pour a little nail polish remover on to it and wipe over each toenail as the cream you have just applied will have soaked in but the excess will need to be removed or the polish won’t set properly. Use a little more cotton wool to keep those tootsies apart ready for adding some colour.

Image

I started off with Orly Bonder Base Coat (around £5 from stores such as Boots), I really like this product as it leaves a nice smooth base for the polish. The colour I chose, was a rather bright pink (practically neon), and is called 24/7 by Sinful Colors (available from Boots for just £1.99). Sinful Colors is an American brand that has been brought over here via Boots in the last year or so, and they have a wide array of colours and textures at a really reasonable £1.99. I love this colour and even though it is very bright, I thought it would be perfect for my holiday next week. Now with it being a neon colour, the polish does dry matte, which is fine on its own, but I prefer a bit of shine and so I top it off with Andrea Fullerton’s Gloss Up Overcoat (£2.50 from Superdrug) and it makes the nails look really really shiny and plump. Now as I have no patience whatsoever I top the whole lot off with Bourjois Instant Dry Nail Enamel Dryer (£5.99 from Boots, Superdrug etc), which is a little bottle with a drop applicator and you just release one drop per nail and it dries your nails much quicker than without it. I do not proclaim to have nice feet in the slightest – I have even had to have some operations on my feet, but here is the finished result (tan courtesy of my new St Tropez Dry Oil which I shall be blogging about soon).
