Lotil Seriously Good Foot Care Cream

So Friday i lost my job which wasn’t the best start to the weekend I must admit. It was made better by a full body hot stone massage on Saturday though and today I have been in full holiday mode. I managed to figure out which clothes to take, sort out toiletries, plan what I would like to do whilst I’m over there and started my beauty prep. Feet. Not many people have pretty feet its a fact. We paint our toenails and add crystals on to them but at the end of the day theyre still pretty ugly, especially if they are covered in dry skin and blisters! So in preparation for wearing my beautiful new Lauren Conrad for Kohls flip flops, I decided to get my feet in tip top condition by trying out Lotil Seriously Good Foot Care Cream with Aloe Vera extract.

Image

Last night I tried the following which is such a good idea in order to get those tootsies looking and feeling fresh…

1: Slather the rich cream all over your feet and not forgetting your heels

2: Wrap each foot in cling film and pop over a pair of old socks to prevent cream going all over the bed

3: Leave overnight and I’m 99% sure you will be happy with the results :)

Image

After a long hot bath I smothered my little tootsies in a generous layer of Lotil Foot Cream, my feet were drinking up the rich, thick and creamy texture making sure they absorbed as much as possible, they were very thirsty with it being this time of year! I then wrapped them in cling film and then put some bedtime socks on.

Image

In the morning I removed my socks and the cling film to find my parched feet actually feeling and looking alive again. The cream really penetrated deep into my feet and my toes felt incredibly well nourished and they felt amazingly soft and moisturised. This product is very versatile as you can use it for either an intense treatment as I did or frequently, when your skin needs a boost and some hydration. I loved trying the Lotil Foot Cream and I would definitely recommend it to get ready for those sunshine months!

You can purchase Lotil footcream for around £5.49 from all good pharmacies!

Love,

Kathryn xx

Tanya Burr Lips & Nails

This post may be slightly later than a lot of bloggers but due to high demand, my products which I ordered on the day of launch only arrived yesterday, two weeks later.

It was inevitable that a lot of people would want to try these products out, as Tanya Burr has been a YouTube and blog success for a few years now.

Tanya Burr is a Beauty, Fashion & Lifestyle Blogger and YouTuber. On her YouTube channel (YouTube.com/TanyaBurr) Tanya delivers makeup tutorials, beauty and style guidance and candid vlogs to hundreds of thousands of viewers each day and over 6 million people a month. She also writes a beauty and lifestyle blog on http://www.tanyaburr.co.uk.

What makes Tanya so popular is how friendly and lovely she is, and unlike a lot of make-up artists, she uses a mix of high street and high end products, making all her looks affordable.
Tanya also has a real connection with her viewers as she chats to them daily on Twitter and loves doing regular meet and greets, as well as sharing her personal life with her fans by featuring her fiancé and fellow Youtuber Jim Chapman, her friends and family in her videos.

At the end of last month, she launched a collection of lip glosses and nail polishes on feelunique.com, which are now also going to be available at Superdrug, which I’m really excited about.

I decided to order one lipgloss and one nail varnish to try out the range before purchasing more.

20140216-153005.jpg

Each of the products comes embossed with the Tanya Burr heart logo and her signature, and the lipglosses come with a little message from Tanya. Each product also has an individual name that Tanya has come up with, which is a nice touch rather than just a number.

Lipgloss
Smile, Dream, Sparkle

I decided to go for quite a neutral pink lipgloss to test out the consistency and stickiness before braving some of the darker shades. To be honest, I’m not a massive lipgloss wearer. I much prefer lipstick, as I find it more moisturising and long lasting, whereas lip glosses can wear off easily and as soon as there’s a gust of wind, your hair’s stuck all over your face.

This lipgloss stays put for a good couple of hours before you need to reapply it, and it’s really moisturising on the lips. Its not massively sticky and the doe-foot applicator is really easy to use too, rather than some lip glosses that come with a brush.

My only negative is that the colour is a lot more neutral than I thought. It’s a very natural colour when I thought it would be more vibrant, but it is perfect for day to day use, with just the right amount of sparkle to it.

Nail Varnish
New York Night

I’ve wanted a really dark, wintery colour like this for a while now, so thought I’d pick this over some of the lighter spring shades, which I’ll probably purchase nearer spring time.

The colour is an extremely dark purple which is almost black in some lights, and looks great with any coloured outfit for day to day use or a night out.

The consistency of the nail varnish is really good, and you can get away with using just the one coat, although I used two just to make the colour a lot richer.

Some nail varnishes are really gloppy and difficult to use, but this goes on really well.

I have a habit of chipping and smudging nail varnish, but this hasn’t chipped yet (although I did peel some off today absent mindedly).

20140216-155118.jpg

Overall, Tanya Burr’s lips and nails collection is well worth a try, and I can’t wait for them to come to my local Superdrug so I can have a good look at the entire range and try out more shades in both the lipgloss and nail varnish!

The range is available from feelunique.com and Superdrug online. The lip glosses are £6.99 and the nail varnishes are £5.99, which is a really good price for the quality of the product.

Tanya Burr knows what makes a good product, and has certainly delivered!

Fragrance Direct Haul

One of my favourite posts to read or watch on YouTube is a good haul, whether it be from a range of fashion and beauty products purchased on a shopping trip, a drugstore haul after a dig through Boots or a haul from a website. Recently we were asked to try out two of the best selling perfumes from Fragrance Direct, and decided to buy a few pieces ourselves from the recent sale and present to you our very own Fragrance Direct haul.

Fragrance Direct, if you were unaware, is a website which sells fragrances and make up products available on the high street with reduced prices of up 70%. Everyone loves a bargain, and it’s well worth checking the website out, particularly if you want a new perfume, as the prices seem to creep up year on year, yet Fragrance Direct always offer a reduced rate for the exact same product!

Emily’s perfume:
Marc Jacobs Daisy

I absolutely love fragrances from the Marc Jacobs range, and have been a constant user of them for a few years now. What first caught my attention was how beautiful the bottles are. I know a lot of people are attracted to a pretty bottle which would look good on the dressing table and these tick all the boxes. Daisy perfumes feature recognisable flowers on the lid, which add gorgeous decoration which you instantly identify as a Marc Jacobs product.

This perfume smells gorgeous, and it’s a real signature scent. I’ve never come across a cheaper brand which smells similar and it’s really distinctive, yet light and floral. It’s perfect for both summer and winter, so will last ages too!

Kathryn’s perfume:
Gucci Premiere Eau De Parfum

Image

I love Gucci as a brand, I still remember the day I got my very first Gucci bag at the age of 17, it was from Harrods and I felt so special walking down Bond Street carrying my Harrods-clad bag. I now own multiple bags, purses, shoes, watches, jewellery, phone cases, ipad covers, the lot! But I have never ever owned one of their perfumes. The two perfumes I always go straight to in duty free are Thierry Mugler’s Angel and Alien, and I often love trying the summer editions too, and so I rarely stray away from these two as I have never found anything comparable. I was sent Gucci Premiere by Fragrance Direct and before I even smelt the perfume, I fell in love with the packaging, it has the monogrammed pattern on the box which you then open up to reveal a weighty gold square bottle, with the famous horsebit charm. The bottle really is beautiful and reminds me of vintage perfume bottles and looks stunning on my bedside table. The lid easily pops off to reveal a spray nozzle but is also secure enough to pop in a handbag or suitcase without risk of it leaking everywhere. The fragrance captures the essence of vintage and luxury with it’s rich warm notes. Light floral notes from orange blossoms blend seamlessly with spicy notes from the bergamot and the base notes are a mixture of musk, leather and wood, which are absolutely my favourite scents when thinking of perfume. I find this is the perfect perfume for an evening out but I like this perfume so much that I would probably wear it on a daily basis, although perhaps not for work as it is quite strong, which for me is perfect as I like to be able to smell my perfume throughout the day, but other people close by may find it a little strong. I am so pleased I had the opportunity to try this Gucci fragrance and am excited to try out the others in their range. Gucci Premiere Eau De Parfum 30ml has an RRP of £45, but at Fragrance Direct, you can purchase it for just £35.95.

L’Oreal Glam Shine Lip Gloss in Shade 06 (Sand Crystal)

I decided to buy this lip gloss as I used to use it all the time when I was younger and fancied a little meander down memory lane. The shade is Sand Crystal which is a light gold/brown with a beautiful shimmer to it. I love the feel of this gloss on my lips as its really glossy and plumping without being sticky and wand has a really good shaped tip. The RRP of this lip gloss is £7.69 but you can get it from Fragrance Direct for just £2.75.

Image

Mark Hill Sexy Straight Super Straightening Cream

Sorry to keep boring you with holiday talk, but I bought this with my holiday in mind. I don’t generally suffer from frizzy hair unless I am abroad, when my hair turns into a mahoosive puffball. This straightening cream is a great compact size for travelling with and I love the shocking pink packaging! Again, the lid seems very secure so I think it would be fine with regards to spillages and breakages and the smell isn’t anything special in my opinion but once smoothed onto the hair before blowdrying, I was really pleased with the result, my hair was smooth and free from fly aways. This cost just 99p from Fragrance Direct compared to the RRP of £2.50 and there is a wide range of these super sexy Mark Hill products available.

Image

InVogue Pro Formula Nail Lacquer in Guilty Pleasure

I am such a magpie when it comes to anything sparkly and glittery, and that certainly doesn’t change for nail polishes! I thought this rich blue/green pigmented nail polish would be a lovely shade for this time of year without being too bright. When you unscrew the lid, the polish looks opalescent and in the bottle it looks quite a thick polish, but upon application it was very light and sheer which wasn’t really the look I was after unfortunately. The nail polish had a good lasting quality to it though. You can purchase this in a range of shades and textures for £2.25 rather than the RRP of £2.99.

Image

W7 Super Pout in Millie

I wanted a peachy coloured lip gloss to try out and at £1.25 (RRP £2.99) it was a perfect price point to trial. The gloss is a decent size tube with a humongous sponge pad at the end of the application wand and covers in just one swipe. The colour is really pretty and dense without making me look like I’ve had one too many Botox injections.

Image

Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in You Wish

I ordered this as it looked a really pretty colour, which it is, but unfortunately for me, it is far too sheer for me, it doesn’t leave a colour on the lips, just shine. The consistency of the gloss is lovely and light though and I would definitely try purchasing this in a different colour. At 99p though I don’t feel like I have lost out, which is why Fragrance Direct is so useful, as with such low prices you can really experiment with cosmetics. (RRP £3.99).

Image

Maybelline Colour Sensational Popsticks in Pink Sugar

I love the popping pink packaging with this lipstick/balm/gloss. Yes lipstick/balm/gloss – I’m not really sure what it is. It is shaped like a lipstick, looks shiny like a gloss but goes on like a lip balm. There is no colour to this lipthing (?!) when applied but it does look a light shade of pink in the tube. It has the prettiest shimmer and sparkle in it though and I honestly could quite happily bite into it as it looks so delicious! Strange but true! It really moisturises my lips and even though it is transparent, it is definitely one of my favourite products from the haul. RRP is £7.19 but Fragrance Direct smash that down to £1.99.

Image

Maybelline My Mono Eyeshadow in Shades 120, 125, 209, 229, 309, 409, 437

At the time of ordering our Fragrance Direct Haul, Emily had ordered her Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. (Jealous). I came across these Maybelline single eyeshadows and thought I would try and re-create my own nudes palette. I chose seven different but similar shades that I thought would work really well together. I was really impressed when I opened these eyeshadows up, they have a clear lid so you can tell which colour is which, and have a beautiful shimmer, without making you look like a disco ball so they are perfect for daytime, or adding more product for an evening look. At 75p a pop (RRP £4 each), these make a much cheaper alternative to the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette.

Image

Miss Sporty Fabulous Eyes in Shade 070 Desert Beauty

I wanted an eye colour that I could take away with me that would be ideal for day or night without hauling my large palettes with me, and so I ordered this neutral brown eyeshadow pencil as I thought this would be perfect. It has a wonderful creamy consistency and goes on the lid really smoothly and without creases. Desert Beauty has a really pretty shimmer to it without making me look like I’m from the 1980s (which I guess technically I am as I was born in 1984, but you get my drift). I will definitely be popping this one in my travel bag! 99p is another brilliant price from Fragrance Direct rather than the RRP £2.99.

Emily’s Products:

Schwarzkopf Got2b Volumizing Styling Powder

This powder is a great way to add volume to your roots in a matter of seconds. It’s really simple to use, you just shake a bit onto your palm and rub your hands together then use your fingers to poof your hair with it. The powder then turns into a kind of glue, which holds your hair in position without leaving any sticky rank residue or a powdery texture!

The bottle lasts ages. I first bought this product about a year ago and still have a tiny bit left as I don’t necessarily use it every day, just when I need a little pick me up. The bottle says up to 50 applications, and I think I probably got about that out of mine, plus got myself in a sticky situation with it when I didn’t put the cap on properly in my clutch bag and it leaked everywhere.

The bottle is small enough to pop into your bag too for top ups, and so much easier than carrying around a can of hairspray!

Astor Colour Vision Eye Palette in 125 Magic Brown

This eye palette features four eye shadows which have golden tones to them – a hot trend for Spring 2014.

Originally, I wanted to try it out as a day time replacement for my Urban Decay Naked Palette, as it’s pricy and I’m finding myself using it every single day.

Obviously, it’s not quite as good as a Naked palette but it definitely does the job.

The colours blend well together and the pigmentation of the shadows is really good for the price. I’ve never heard of the Astor brand but I’ll definitely try other products in the future! It comes with a sponge applicator which I didn’t use, but I’d definitely recommend using Real Techniques brushes to create a polished look.

Dainty Doll Concealer Pen

I was curious to try these products out as they are by Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud. She has extremely pale skin and often found it difficult to purchase make up light enough for her. I do not have light skin, but wanted to try it to give you readers an honest review in case you wanted to purchase it!

The pen itself is really professional looking, and the applicator is a brush which was easy to use and left a blended finish.

At first, it came out looking dry with a green tint, but after pumping the button on the bottom it came out properly, so on first use, pump more than you think you should!

The consistency is good and left a good coverage to spots and blemishes, however I wouldn’t necessarily use it as an under eye concealer as it has a matte finish, whereas under the eye you need something more illuminating.

I got colour 004 it’s a kind of magic, which was very pale for my complexion but I have used it as a highlighter on my brow bones which works really well when blended in!

Malibu Bronzing Tanning Oil

This is a bit of a naughty purchase for my holidays, as you should really look after your skin properly with a high SPF, but I love to use an oil on the last couple of days to get a golden glow before I jet back to rainy England.

I do use a suncream underneath too, as it only has an SPF of 2, but I absolutely love the smell of this product. It has a Tropical Coconut fragrance which will always remind you of the warm weather.

The oily consistency is easy to rub in and leaves your skin soft and glowing.

Please do NOT use this product of you are partial to burning though, and always use a suncream underneath it!

Pupa Graphic Lipstick

I’ve wanted a really pink lipstick for a whole now, and couldn’t find the perfect one anywhere so thought I’d give this one a go.

I’ve never heard of this brand but judging by the RRP it’s slightly more high end. The packaging was a bit different which I liked too.

In the stick, the pink looked really pigmented, but when I put it on it had a really silvery shimmer which I hated and it wasn’t as bright as it looked at all! However, the lipstick felt really moisturising on my lips, didn’t dry out and lasted quite a whole which was great (if you liked it, that is!)

Etsy- Made With Love Cold & Flu Relief Bath Salts

Hi everyone,

You may have noticed that Kathryn has been a whizz and posted some great products for you all to read about recently, yet I’ve been silent, and that is because I came down with the worlds worst cold!

For the last week or so I have been sniffling, coughing, wheezing, complaining and generally feeling sorry for myself!

I am however, thanks to Covonia, Benylin, Halls Soothers, tablets and this product, almost back to perfect(ish) health.

Last week, whilst at my worst, I decided the only thing that would make my life better was to have a nice relaxing bath, and remembered some bath salts that were sent to us from Made In Love, an Etsy store. At the time, I thought they may come in handy one day, not assuming that two days later I’d be struck down with the mother of all illnesses!

I decided to give them a whirl, thinking I have NOTHING to lose, and am SO glad that I did!

The bottle plastic bottle comes with a silver lid and a hand made label, which told me that the salts had Eucalyptus and Lavender in- both brilliant for a cold.

The instructions on the back told me to add 1-2 handfuls of the salts to my bath water after it has stopped running as running water evaporates the essential oils (something I didn’t know and will remember for all future bath salted bathing!)

At first, I though the salts looked quite big and thought there may be a chance I would have a Chandler from Friends moment with salts not dissolved properly, but this wasn’t the case. The salts dissolved perfectly and I couldn’t feel them in the bath at all, even when I got in straight away!

20140212-215333.jpg

The first time I used these, absolutely none of my senses were working (except my sight, your sight doesn’t normally go when you have a cold I don’t think…) so I couldn’t smell this very well. I actually assumed it was scent-less, not realising the severity of my ailments.

But after a few goes, my sense of smell returned (hurrah!) and these smell absolutely gorgeous. I’m not usually a big fan of lavender, but mixed with the eucalyptus my bath smelt divine and really unblocked my nose.

I definitely think these helped get me on the road to recovery and would definitely recommend them!

You can get them from http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/MadewLoveUKfor just £4.95.

If you’ve come down with this horrible flu that has made it’s way around my entire office now, keep warm and drink plenty of liquids, and treat yourself to a bath with these! They’re miracle workers and well worth the price!

Love,
Emily xxx

Amie Spring Clean Deep Cleansing Mask

I used amie spring clean deep cleansing mask after noticing that my skin had been looking tired and dull for a few days. The first thing I noticed about this was the gorgeous smell, however
it is slightly overpowering when you actually put the product on your face and it made my eyes water for a few seconds.

Image
I applied a thin layer of the product over my face and felt a cool tingling sensation almost straight away. I laid back and relaxed for the next ten minutes before washing the mask away. I was pleasantly surprised by how easily it came off, unlike some products that practically have to be scrubbed off, this was simply washed away with a few splashes of warm water. Once it was all removed it was immediately obvious how much brighter and more radiant my skin looked, not to mention how soft it felt. Plus, it didn’t feel tight which I’ve noticed with products I’ve used in the past. In the couple of days that followed I really noticed a difference, with my skin feeling clearer and less oily. I will definitely be making this a part of my regular beauty regime, it is by far the best face mask I have used in a long time!

Etsy – Made With Love Beard Oil

Perhaps I should have let my wife review this Beard Oil by Made with Love. After all, it is her who enjoys/endures (take your pick) my beard.  As far as I’m concerned it just hangs off my chin.

I don’t spend a great deal of time massaging it while in deep thought like the archetypal wise old sage. Containing Vitamin E, sweet almond oil, cypress, peppermint and tea tree essential oils, this mixture promises to soothe and moisturise, and certainly makes a welcome change to the plethora of sauces, juices and crumbs that usually get caught up in these coarser hairs during the week.

Image

Application is a bit messy; you are provided with a pipette which is a bit too eager to dispense its contents. This is just a minor gripe, though, as fortunately, it smells great and I am pleased to say it has had a very definite rejuvenating effect on this tired old beard of mine.

Simply Argan Oil

Facial oils have been a big trend in skincare recently and I’m a sucker for ‘the next big thing’ so this sounded right up my street. Argan oil is taken from the argan trees of Morocco and with the recent surge in popularity of the oil there are a lot of fake and watered down versions out there but this one is laboratory certified and even comes with a dinky certificate of authenticity so you’re getting the good stuff here.

Image

I think my favourite thing about it is that the 50ml bottle would probably last you forever, provided you store it correctly. I’ve been using it every night for the last three weeks on my skin and every weekend on my hair as a treatment for my frankly shocking split ends, but the bottle still looks full, as if it is brand new and unused. Just make sure you keep it in a cool place and out of direct sunlight.

The other thing that makes me really happy is that it comes with the Leaping Bunny mark, which means it is cruelty free. I’m like a little girl in that I love bunnies and all small fluffy creatures, so this is a non-negotiable aspect of any beauty product for me.

So far so good, but what about when you actually use it? Argan oil is famed as being good to everything from skin to hair and even your fingernails, so I’ve used it on all three. Skin-wise, I acquired a sample of another facial oil recently free with an order of something else and the oil smelled lovely but seemed a bit thick and didn’t sink in all that well like it promised it would, and left me feeling a bit sticky. No such problem here, it’s really light and a little goes a long way, one pump covered my whole face and sank in super quick. If you have greasy skin like me, you may think the idea of putting yet more oil on it is bonkers, I certainly did. But the oils produced by your skin and plant oils are completely different and the plant oils can help give your skin naturally fatty acids that it needs to keep it hydrated and protect it from central heating and cold winter air, which certainly at this time of year is essential. If you have dry skin you could probably use this is in the mornings as well as a bit of a boost under your make-up if you wear it or just on its own for a protective boost.

 Image

As for my nails, I can’t honestly say I’ve noticed that much difference but I have been a bit irregular using it on my nails so that could be why. On my hair, well some things only a good haircut can solve and the split ends are still there but it definitely makes my hair super soft and shiny the next day when I wash it off.

This is available at www.simplyargan.co.uk either on its own (it’s on special offer for £14 at the moment if you get in quick!) or as part of a gift set.
