Cheerios

Posted in Uncategorized
on October 27, 2013

The other day I posted our review on CB12 mouthwash, in which I mentioned my lack of dental care is because I rush out of the door faster than Usain Bolt in a morning having spent too long doing my mascara and choosing what to wear for work- where nobody sees me, and I have no one to impress. It’s just a girl thing.

Some kind soul must have read our minds, because the next day, a multipack of Cheerios dropped through the front door!

I love a bowl of cereal in the morning, but it’s not feasible for me to have one before work. I usually cram a slice of toast in my mouth while I’m in the car, or devour a cereal bar at 10.30am sat my desk while contemplating doing a bacon sarnie run on my break.

These little packs are perfect for breakfast on the go! I ate a bag, dry, at my desk first thing on Friday morning and was full up until lunch!

We thought we needed a child’s opinion too. Here’s a picture of Willow enjoying them!

Not only are they tasty, but they’re full of that good stuff we need that you don’t get from Freddos and packets of Quavers!

I’d definitely recommend them for a breakfast on the go, without any hassle!

Winter Boots

Posted in Uncategorized
on October 27, 2013

It’s getting to that time of year when all you really need in life is a good pair of boots. Comfy, stylish, durable, waterproof, snow proof, won’t break the bank, will go with every outfit. Us girls don’t ask for much!

Now, some years I’ve spent a considerable amount on just the one pair to see me through. Only for them to fall to bits come January 10th with three British weather months to get through before we dig out the pumps again.

Obviously, we all own a pair of Uggs. Classic chestnut, brown or black, these babies last a good couple of years for your £165. With their fluffy lining, your feet are warm, but in torrential rain and snow, no amount of suede protection spray can leave them unharmed. However, we still give them a good shot, despite the fur lining being worn down, the toe lines clearly visible where we walk and- my pet hate- the collapsed inside heel which makes an Ugg turn ugly. If anyone reading this has a pair like this, please PLEASE throw them away. You look a fool.

This year, I want to step away from the Uggs, step away from the overpriced and invest in a couple of pairs that will see me through all occasions. Including suitable for the office.

First stop- New Look. I saw a pair of boots on ASOS and thought I’d try get them in town so I could try them on without having to then return them straight away.

I am in love with this year’s New Look boots. They have some great ones in, particularly the strappy Chelsea boot I picked up recently.

Fashionable straps, double buckles and a heel low enough to walk around in all day and high enough to NOT be a kitten heel. Oh kitten heels, WHY do you exist?!

However, these boots are painful. And I can’t even put my finger on which part of the foot the pain occurs. I even invested in some frilly Topshop socks to add a trendy comfort to them- no help.

So, after a few wears, enough was enough. I’ll save them for the pub, not for work or shopping.

Next stop- my faithful, loveable, one-stop shop- Primark.

In the past few years, I’ve not been impressed with Primark’s winter boots. Some looked cheap (which they are, but still). Some looked dated. Some I didn’t even give a second glance.

But after my trip there on Saturday, I must say I was impressed and picked up these lovelies:

Let’s see how long they last, but so far I’m impressed!!

Get yourself to Primmers this year and buy a few pairs rather than just the one! The long ones where £22, the medium £20 and the short, only a measley £10! Variety is the spice of life 🙂

Bonjour French Food Box

Although I’ve only been to Paris twice- both times to Disneyland, once in the summer aged 6, once at Christmas aged 10- I’d say it was one of my favourite places on earth. I do remember the magical feel of the entire city. The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the glamorous women, the delicious food- but at such a young age, you don’t fully appreciate the real beauty of the French capital. I was just excited to meet Cinderella, see the Magical Kingdom and buy some Minnie Mouse ears.

The city of love and the city of fashion, some of the greatest designers hail from Paris. Chanel, Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent, to name but a few. If my future husband, whoever you may be, reads this, be a good egg and hop me on the Eurostar before you get down on one knee!

Fashion, culture and Walt Disney aside, France also has some of the most delicious food in the world. Who doesn’t like bread, cheese and wine?!

The team at Bonjour French Food sent us their October food box for us to enjoy that little slice of Paris through our door!

Bonjour French Food monthly subscription boxes are now delivering in the UK, either for yourself or as a gift, with a surprise selection of gourmet products each month. Prices start at only £29 per month, and we think it’s well worth the price for all those who love dining al fresco… Or just around the cuisine tableau.

In our box we received six different products.

– Marlette: Fondant au Chocolat baking mix

– Petits sables ronds et bons Michel et Augustin

– Tomato and Sweet pepper spread, Anchovy & Garlic ducs de Gascogne

– Wild boat terrine, hazelnut and tangerine Ducs de Gascogne

– Tonton La Rondelle Pepper-coated saucisson

– Terrine de Magret de Canard Miel des Cevennes Maison Papillon

(No, we weren’t sure what exactly we were letting ourselves in for either)

However, I was pleasantly surprised by almost every treat in the box. It was all completely different to the terrines, pates, biscuits and sausages you get on the shelves of Tesco, and it was definitely an impressive array of delicious French treats for people who want to try something new.

We’ve still yet to make the cake from the mix, but it looks like it’s going to be delicious! We’ll let you know about that when we have a tasting session!

The boxes are available at www.bonjourfrenchfood.com, with a variety of delivery options available. There’s also an offer where you can save £5 by entering the code FRENCHFOOD.

Why not grab your beret, pretend you’re in a cafe next to the River Seine and enjoy some real French cuisine. Bon Appetit!

CB12 Oral Products

Now I must say beforehand, I’m no dentist. In fact, I don’t usually use anything other than Colgate and a toothbrush. Using mouthwash, floss etc is something I always mean to do, but when you’re late for work and are rushing out the door, packing your bag, making your lunch and putting your clothes on all at the same time because you’ve spent too long doing your mascara and checking Facebook… Well, girls can multi-task, but that’s taking it a step too far.

So when the lovely team at CB12 sent us samples of their mouthwash range, The Kats Paws jumped at the chance to give it a go! No one likes bad breath!

The mouthwash claims to banish bad breath for 12 hours and has been developed by dentists. Twelve hours is a long day, including three meals (and many snacks. We love sweets), so at first I was sceptical, but I could definitely feel a difference! After a day at work, your mouth can feel fluffy, dry and in need of a good clean, whereas after using this mouthwash, it did feel improved. I wouldn’t say my breath was minty fresh by the end of the day, but I did ask a willing friend if I could breathe on them. They reported that there was nothing unpleasant- bonus!

I do usually have some issues with other mouthwashes. The cap is usually fiddly to get off and my aim from the bottle to the lid is usually way off, resulting in sticky and minty hands. CB12 have thought about this and instead of pouring, you press a button, which measures out the exact 10ml which is recommended. These little things always impress me!

I also find that some mouthwashes are so strong, it feels like your mouth is burning. These are as strong as is needed, but tasty! I didn’t need to spit it out straight away, I could easily swish and gargle for a whole minute.

At almost £15 a bottle, some may wonder if its worth the price compared to other, cheaper brands. It works out at about 60p per dose, which is what you’d spend on a packet of crisps every day. For 12 hours without bad breath, you can’t really go wrong!

CB12 is available from Boots, £14.59, and comes in two flavours- Mint Menthol and Mild Mint Mentol.

We loved them both 🙂
